About the Personal Loan Eligibility Calculator

Personal loan eligibility runs on the same FOIR arithmetic as any other loan, but lenders apply it more conservatively because nothing is pledged. Minimum income thresholds — commonly ₹25,000–₹40,000 a month in metros — and employer category matter as much as the ratio itself.

Check your number here first. Every formal application triggers a hard enquiry on your credit report, and several enquiries in a short window will lower your score and make the next lender more cautious.

The formula

Eligible loan = [Affordable EMI × ((1+R)^N − 1)] ÷ [R × (1+R)^N]
Affordable EMINet income × FOIR − existing EMIs
FOIRFixed Obligation to Income Ratio — the share of income a lender lets you commit
R, NMonthly rate and tenure in months

This is the EMI formula solved for the principal instead of the instalment.

Things worth knowing

1
Check eligibility before applying — each formal application is a hard enquiry on your bureau file.
2
Employees of listed companies and government bodies get better rates and higher FOIR bands.
3
Clearing card outstandings before you apply improves both your score and your assessed capacity.

Frequently asked questions

Most banks want ₹25,000–₹40,000 net per month in metro cities, and a little less elsewhere. NBFCs go lower but price the risk into the rate.

Above 750 for the best rates. Between 700 and 750 you will be approved but priced higher. Below 650, most mainstream lenders decline.

Not on this page — nothing here touches your credit file. A formal application with a lender is a hard enquiry and does have a small, temporary effect.
